1. Introduction

Homework provides students or chance to practise language at their own speed. It is a way of maintaining and increasing the proficiency level of the students ability. Some may think that homework is not everything but something very important it helps students to get engaged. When students practise something as their homework, the knowledge they have achieved in the class gets activated. Therefore getting students to do homework is a crucial job. But the problem is some students do not do it.

1.1 Background of the Study

As it is mentioned earlier that homework provides students a chance to practise language at their own speed. When students practise something as their homework, the knowledge they have achieved in their class gets activated. But the fact is not all the students like to do homework. Some find it boring, some may find it difficult and some may have any other reasons of not doing it. So this research is based on the reasons why students do not do homework and the practical measures that helped me solve it.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

The biggest problem teachers face in the class is that many students do not do homework. Even if the homework is easy and not too much, students do not seem to be interested in doing it. It is creating a hindrance in achieving the learning outcomes and it is faced by the teachers of all subjects.

1.3 Objective of the Study

The objectives of the study is

- To find out the reason why some students do not do homework.

- To find out practical measures to solve this problem.

1.4 Significance of the Study

The study is significant for the teachers of all subjects. The study is also important for students. It is equally significant for curriculum planners, textbook writers, syllabus designers.

2. Review of the Related Literature

For the study, I reviewed the related research is done for the same problem. I also read the research papers of the same problems submitted to the TU, Department of Education.

3. Methodology

3.1 Source of Data

For the collection of Data, primary and secondary sources were used .

3.1.1 Primary Sources of Data

The primary sources of for the data of my research where the students of class 6, 7, 8 and the teachers teaching these classes. Some parents off deed students were also involved to get more out of them.

3.1.2 Secondary Sources of Data

The secondary sources of data were:

- library
- internet
- journal
- Shikshak Maasik magazine

3.2 Tools for Data Collection

the tools that used for the collection of data for my research were:

- observation
- interview
- questionnaire
- asking in public
- field analysis
- tape recorder

3.3 Process of Data Collection

I primarily collected my data by interviewing particularly those students who often do not do homework. I made an easy environment where students could easily share an express their problems of not doing homework, I also asked some parents what their students exactly Do at their home That they do not find time to do their homework.I also asked some students in public why they often do not do their homework. I also observed my students for a few days to find out the exact reason of not doing their homework.

Besides these, I read various articles collected from library, visiting the Internet, reading articles from Shikshak Maasik Magazine etc. To collect the sufficient data for my research.

4. Presentation, Analysis and Interpretation

After collecting all the data that I required, and after analysing them, I came to know thatthere are various and variety of reasons of why students do not do homework. The results are shocking but they are truth. The main reason of students for not doing homework is that they find it very difficult to do English homework. Another reason is that the geographical distance of the school from their home is also a major thing.some other reasons are lack of interest inthe part of students, poor Academy level, family atmosphere, overloaded homework, two easy homework, lack of the books and paper etc.

5. Findings and Recommendations

5.1 Findings

The reasons of students not doing homework are,

- They are not interested in doing it.

- The homework is very difficult for them.

- Some students cannot manage time to do homework at their home.

- Some students do not do it since they do not have textbooks and exercise books.

- Some students tend to be discouraged by over correction and seem to be unwilling to do it.

- Some students do not do it because of overloaded homework of different subjects.

5.2 Recommendations

To minimise the problems, I recommend the following measures If implemented practically.

- In order to arouse interest in students, the teacher can give them different options to choose freely on their own.

- Teacher can facilitate whole class together.

- Weaker students should be encouraged by giving them easier homework than others.

- Teacher can correct one type of errors once.

- Teachers should make homework fun by bringing variety in them.

- Teacher should counsel with parents to manage time for their children.

- Teacher should reduce the overload of the homework.
